About

One A Wines is a wine shop devoted exclusively to natural wines. We embrace this term to identify wines made with as little intervention as possible, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Farmed organically or biodynamically, the wines are produced without adding or removing anything during winemaking. There is no filtration, no temperature control, no oxygenation. The aim is to make wine as it was made before the industrialisation of agriculture, before the search for consistency and uniformity turned wine into a commodity like any other. The location of one A wines in the cellar of a building that houses two contemporary art galleries serves to emphasise what are, in our mind, very obvious similarities between the world of natural wine making and that of contemporary art: both are communities bound together by a passion and the desire to do things well; both question received ideas about how things are done and focus on humanity, quality over quantity, the unorthodox and a belief in the importance of each individual’s choices, both in society and culture. Our work in the shop is buttressed by an ongoing collaboration with “Cento Per Cento Vino”, a consortium of small independent wineries engaged in natural vinification. This takes the shape of continuous advice on the selection of wines stocked in the shop and pivots on “Liberate The Grape!”, a series of tastings held on a regular basis at our premises in Kempsford Road.

As of September 2020 our opening hours are Monday to Saturday 11am t until 6 pm. Please ring the bell next to the large wooden door and wear a mask. See you soon!

Opened in November 2017, the shop is exclusively devoted to natural wines mainly from France, Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland. We are open Thursday to Saturday from 11 am until 6 pm and by appointment. The shop is located in the cellars of Corvi-Mora and greengrassi galleries, so you can also see two shows of top-quality International contemporary art while you are there. Worth a visit!
