8.1 / zero zero / $27 (1 Liter) / Selections de la Vina / defaults to red, but of the three varietals only Sumoll is red, the other two are white. Super light and clear visually, I was taken aback when i first took a big smell. Very earthy and somewhat bacterial. None of that bacterial element hits the tongue thankfully, but there is a little funk. Juicy and bright and easy to drink. I was initially thinking fruit punch Jolly Ranchers, but now kinda leaning to Hawaiian Punch. There is definitely a combination of tropical fruit with that "red" candy flavor. Not sweet at all though. Beginning second glass and the bacterial smell has either dissapated after allowing time to open or I'm just not as shocked on the second glass. Candy flavors give way to a rough but not unpleasant alcohol flavor with time. Far from a perfect wine, but maybe exactly what a lot of people that are into natural wine are happy to find. Ruben Parera was probably not aiming for a perfect wine from the outset when he started by combining seemingly incompatible red and white grape varietals, right? Let's just go with Bangin' Alcoholic Hawaiian Punch and call it a day. Cheers Y'all.
