Nestled away in the lesser known village village of Bligny-sur-Ouche, in Burgundy, Papotte is a collection of four enchanting vacation homes located in a meticulously restored 15th-century mill. This idyllic estate spans 2.5 hectares and features a sprawling vegetable garden, a serene fishing pond fed by a meandering river, vast open fields, and a charming café and grocery store.
Working closely with the talented architectural duo HEJU, the owners of Papotte aimed to infuse this historic property with a poetic, singular, and harmonious spirit. The result is a remarkable haven where history and contemporary comfort seamlessly coexist, creating a unique experience for visitors.
Papotte opened its doors on August 8th, 2022, following seven months of meticulous renovation work. The 600 square meters of space within the four houses, along with the café-grocery, were thoughtfully reimagined to ensure a delightful stay for guests.
Another reason why we love Papotte is the owners' dedication to promoting local natural wine. The village, with just 800 inhabitants, has limited venues for exploring this culinary delight. However, Papotte collaborates with their friends at Enstase in Beaune to curate an exquisite selection of organic, biodynamic, and natural wines. These wines are offered exclusively to Papotte residents, allowing guests to savor the stories behind each bottle.
Papotte is more than a vacation destination; it's an opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich history and delicious flavors of Burgundy, all within the tranquil embrace of a unique 15th-century mill.
