Passerina - Abruzzo

Chute Libre from Terrain Vague is a red wine with an unusual story rooted in old Carignan vines from Fitou in the Languedoc region. Its journey began when the original 2022 vintage didn't finish fermenting, leaving a bit of residual sugar. To continue the process, the winemaker added freshly harvested Macabeo grapes from 2023, allowing them to soak for two months. This creative approach also included topping up with lees from another cuvée, giving Chute Libre extra character. The result is a light, lively red with a noticeably zesty acidity and a vibrant, fluid texture. It's a playful yet engaging wine that showcases the imaginative style of Terrain Vague, making it perfect for those who enjoy a bright twist on traditional reds.

Vento d’Estate is a skin-contact Passerina grown on calcareous clay close to the Adriatic in the protected Fosso delle Farfalle near Rocca San Giovanni. The vines, planted between 1998 and 2001, are tended organically by hand. Fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts, and the must rests on the skins for about ten days, giving a soft golden colour and a gentle grip. Ageing continues in steel, with no filtration, fining or added sulphur, so the wine stays true to itself and is friendly to vegans. In the glass you’ll find bright notes of yellow peach, tropical fruit and citrus peel, lifted by a hint of sea breeze and white flowers. The palate is smooth yet lively, carried by fresh acidity and a clean, dry finish that invites another sip. Enjoy well-chilled with fried calamari, smoked fish or a light noodle bowl.
