Jean-Michel Stéphan comes from a family of market gardeners and arboriculturalists, by his father and great grandfather. When it was created, the wine estate included 2 hectares of AOC Côte-Rotie sold to the region's merchant. It was only in 1994 that the first bottles were marketed.
The estate is located 40 km south of LYON in the Rhône valley in the Cote-Rôtie and IGP appellation of the Rhône hills
It now has a vineyard area of 10Ha including 5Ha in Cote-Rôtie.
In organic farming since 1995 and certified since 2017 and in natural wine making since 1997.
In 2017, Jean-Michel Stéphan joined forces with his son Romain to create Maison Stéphan and build its future.
The design of Vin Nature comes from Jules CHAUVET, a Beaujolais wine merchant and scientist. The principle consists in creating a wine without correction product for a digestibility and aromatic complexity of the wines. These are pleasure wines and can be kept.
