STORY: In 1999, Marc Kreydenweiss bought the estate in Manduel between Nîmes and Arles. This is the start of a new adventure for the Kreydenweiss family. The Nîmes region, with its climate and its terroir, quickly revealed itself as the ideal place to satisfy this passion for great reds and develop grape varieties from the Midi thanks to the Alsatian experience. Particularly attracted by old grape varieties such as Carignan or even Syrah and Mourvèdre which are the king grape varieties in the Rhône Valley, planted for years at the estate and converted to biodynamics as soon as it is purchased. Jean, the son, back after a year working for estates in New Zealand, joined the father in 2016 and is now in charge of the vineyard in Manduel. A family with a centuries-old wine history whose original stronghold is in Andlau, Alsace. An estate which, through its climate, soils, grape varieties and terroirs, aroused the desire to realize a dream and to indulge a passion for red wines and for biodynamics. VINES: The principles of biodynamics are applied throughout the estate. The vines are carefully pruned in order to control yields. After disbudding, all the shoots are removed from the base to allow the sun to reach the grapes. The harvest is manual with sorting, everything is destemmed. Each phase leads to a maximized qualitative process in order to obtain a great mineral richness and a beautiful delicacy in the wines. VINIFICATIONS: Short macerations of one week with indigenous yeasts vinified in concrete and stainless steel vats then aged in casks. A slow pneumatic press. The vinification is done naturally, a minimal addition of sulfur is made at the bottling.

HISTOIRE :

En 1999, Marc Kreydenweiss rachète le domaine à Manduel entre Nîmes et Arles. C’est le début d’une nouvelle aventure pour la famille Kreydenweiss. La région de Nîmes, avec son climat et son terroir s’est vite révélé comme l’endroit idéal pour satisfaire cette passion pour les grands rouges et développer des cépages du Midi grâce à l’expérience Alsacienne. Particulièrement attiré par les vieux cépages tels que le Carignan ou encore la Syrah et le Mourvèdre qui sont les cépages rois en Vallées du Rhône plantés depuis des années au domaine et convertis en biodynamie dès son acquisition. Jean, le fils, de retour après un an à travailler pour des domaines de Nouvelle-Zélande, a rejoint le père en 2016 et est maintenant aux commandes du vignoble à Manduel.

Une famille à l’histoire viticole séculaire dont le fief d’origine se trouve à Andlau, en Alsace. Un domaine qui, par son climat, ses sols, ses cépages et ses terroirs a suscité le désir de réaliser un rêve et d’assouvir une passion pour les vins rouges et pour la biodynamie.

VIGNES :

Les principes de la biodynamie sont appliquées sur l’ensemble du domaine. Les vignes sont soigneusement taillées afin de contrôler les rendements. Après ébourgeonnage, toutes les pousses sont enlevées du pied afin de permettre au soleil d’atteindre les raisins. Les vendanges sont manuelles avec triage, tout est égrappé. Chaque phase mène à un procédé qualitatif maximisé afin d’obtenir une grande richesse minérale et une belle délicatesse dans les vins.

VINIFICATIONS :

De courtes macérations d’une semaine avec des levures indigènes vinifiées en cuves bétons et inox puis élevés en foudres. Un pressoir pneumatique lent. La vinification se fait naturellement, un ajout minime de souffre se fait à la mise en bouteilles.
