Un très beau Chenin d'apéritif bien tendu, bien gras aussi généreux et jovial qui vous fait saliver rien que d'en parler.
Chenin de sélection massale récolté à la main, ce Saumur tête d’ange a été planté sur une partie du lieu dit l’Enchentoir sur une parcelle dont la particularité est son sol d’argile verte. Vinifié sans soufre en cuve béton, il en résulte un vin jaune clair et limpide, à reflets verts, à l’agréable fraîcheur aromatique avec une légère minéralité. Le nez est sur la fleur blanche, en bouche le vin reste sec malgré un gras et une rondeur appréciable, sans doute dû à la grande maturité du cépage et au terroir argileux. Des arômes d’agrumes discrets, une sapidité sympathique. L’attaque est nette, la longueur modeste et l’ensemble simple mais efficace.

Tastes pretty neutral, indicative of a high yielding chenin blanc vine. Sadly, all that is left behind is an exposure of the imperfection of the natural wine making process and even within that it's lacking some life. Certainly not a "perfection in our imperfection" types of wines. One note highlighting minor wine faults and a little soulless. Pretty surprised this is a Goatboy Selection, totally not what I've come to expect from that importer. They have a high rate of pretty poor wines, but they are always interesting. Their best ones are excellent and interesting. This one is not a "bad" wine. The faults are pretty minimal. Just not a lot of expression. Lacks vitality. I suspect they wanted an entry level Saumur and took what they could get. Kinda disappointing. I often pick up any Goatboy Selection i see, because i know I'm in for something different and possibly outstanding. This is neither.
