The Millami farm is located in Marsala, on the western tip of Sicily.
With an extension of approximately 12 hectares of vineyards, the company stands out for its varieties of the cultivated vines and for the location of the various plots.
We grow on eight different plots: Catarratto, Grillo, Inzolia, Zibibbo, Nerello Mascalese, Frappato, Nero d’Avola, Merlot and Pinot Grigio.
The company also produces an Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVO), the fruit of a century-old olive grove of around two hectares that my great-grandfather Salvatore left us. inherited many, many years ago. The varieties are the local ones: Nocellara, Biancolilla and Cerasuola.
We are a family farm, and we are inextricably linked to the culture and traditions of our territory and our island.
We are attentive to biodiversity, to the care of animals and to respecting what this extraordinary land gives us every day. For many years now, no synthetic products have been used in our land and the company is in the process of being converted into organic farming.
In my wines I seek the true expression of my land, its soul, its history. I imagine a wine free from any artifice, a wine made of light. Here's why I chose to work in a simple way, following the precepts of sustainable viticulture and artisanal management of the cellar.
Before being a winemaker, I am a winemaker.
I grow my grapes respecting the territory, plants and animals. The grapes are grown in low-yielding vineyards with copper and sulfur treatmentsreduced only to the bare minimum.
This attitude of respectfor the territory and for the raw material (harvested manually) also continues in the cellar where fermentation and refinement take place exclusively with yeasts and bacteria indigenous. This allows the wine to express the true aromas of my territory and the vines I use. Sulphites tend to be added as needed in minimal quantities.
Believing in a territory means understanding it, loving it, putting it before everything.
