If the area known as Lakomátia—a lieux-dit, in French terms—is considered one of the highest-quality zones for grape growing within the Robola appellation, thanks to its ideal orientation, soils, and altitude, then with the distinct vinification of the Rachi vineyard, Sklavos takes the concept of cru one step further. This particular vineyard, located within Lakomátia, sits at the top and slopes of one of the highest hills in the broader subzone, at an altitude of 650–700 meters, with impressively steep inclines. Rachi is thus a single-vineyard expression, marked by remarkable terroir-driven character. It yields a razor-sharp Robola, showcasing the variety’s limestone-typicity and a piercing acidity that fills the palate with intensity and energy, cutting through and balancing the wine’s generous body. A mineral-laden expression, with a salty edge and length that promises even greater complexity as it evolves in bottle.
