Raise a Glass, Not Tariffs

We’d like to express our solidarity with all those involved in the natural wine world in the United States who have been passionately working for more than twenty years to introduce and promote these exceptional wines. From importers to restaurateurs, wine shop owners, trade show organizers, journalists, and bloggers, an entire ecosystem dedicated to natural wine could be threatened.
Following the threatened 200% tariff, the U.S. has instead opted for a tiered system of import duties—ranging from 10% to 30%, depending on the country of origin—set to take effect on April 9, 2025. While less extreme than initially proposed, the impact will still be significant, dealing a major blow not only to American wine professionals and enthusiasts but also to international winemakers already struggling after a string of challenging vintages and the particularly devastating 2024 harvest. Periods of late frost in spring, localized hail storms, heat waves during summer, not to mention drought periods that have significantly weakened treasuries. We all hope that this vintage will be way much smoother.
Our advice to all authentic natural wine lovers remains simple but essential: continue to support this world by drinking natural wine!
