Five essential natural wine restaurants to visit in Jura!
If you’re lucky enough to visit the Jura, there’s a good chance you’ll find yourself in the charming villages of Arbois or Pupillin. Strolling their streets, it’s almost inevitable you’ll cross paths with one of the region’s renowned natural winemakers. These villages have rightfully earned their reputation as the “Mecca of Natural Wine.”
To help you make the most of your trip, here’s a look at five essential restaurants to visit while you’re in the Jura, places where exceptional wine lists, outstanding cuisine, and a warm, authentic atmosphere come together in perfect harmony.

In Arbois, Bistrot des Claquets is an essential stop for lunch. Expect a daily-changing main course and a buffet of starters. This is a true winemakers bar, where you’re likely to find local vignerons enjoying their midday meal. There’s no formal wine list, just a shelf lined with fantastic local natural wines. and some of the friendliest staff you’ll ever meet. Just be sure to call ahead and book your table!

Bistrot de la Tournelle could easily claim a spot among the world’s best terraces. Pass through a large old door and you find yourself on the bank of the Cuisance River in Arbois, it exclusively serves wines from Domaine de la Tournelle that are fermented just about ten meters away. Open only in July and August, it might just be the perfect spot for an unforgettable apéro.

In Pupillin, Le Grapiot is a must-visit for anyone exploring Jura’s culinary scene. This stylish restaurant pairs refined regional dishes with a mouth watering selection of natural wines, many from nearby natural winemakers. Infact, you might notice Maison Overnoy-Houllion is just across the road. You can’t actually enjoy their wines more locally unless you are sitting in their living room.

In Arbois, Circus is a vibrant restaurant that’s become a fast favorite among locals and visitors alike since opening. With its ever-evolving menu of playful, seasonal small plates, this is a place built for sharing, both food and conversation. Expect bold flavors, inventive cooking, and a natural wine list that shines a spotlight on Jura’s most exciting producers.

Just a few kilometers from Château-Chalon, in the town of Lons-le-Saunier, you’ll find 12 Rue Lecourbe, a charming and elegant wine bar that’s perfect for lunch, a relaxed apéritif, or an evening out with friends.
