Flamingo by Lammidia is a playful and refreshing natural wine from Abruzzo, made in a way that reflects both tradition and creativity. The grapes come from a 60-year-old vineyard in Pianella, where more than ten red and white varieties grow together in the same plot, a style of planting once common in the region. All the grapes are harvested at the same time – some perfectly ripe, others still fresh and crisp – creating a wine that balances fruit with lively tension. The winemaking follows Lammidia’s minimal-intervention philosophy: hand-destemmed grapes, a short three-day skin contact, spontaneous fermentation, and aging in fiberglass. No fining, filtration, or added sulphites are used, keeping the wine pure and vibrant. In the glass, Flamingo shows itself as a light red (sometimes seen as a deep rosé), with bright acidity, subtle cranberry-like fruit, and a gentle hint of black tea. Its low alcohol and refreshing profile make it a relaxed companion for afternoons, picnics, or simple meals. The name “Flamingo” captures its spirit—easy, summery, and a little unconventional for a red wine.
