Grandson of grape growers in Douro, we might say that everything began in is childhood piggybacking on his grandfather through the vineyards, always curious and plucky, willing to learn at every step of the way. It was this incurable fascination that led him into agricultural studies at Santo Tirso and then five years of University in Vila Real, but it wasn't until completing an agricultural engineering course that opened the doorway for this PhD studies in Oregon for Viticulture and Enology. It was there that Tiago picked up on modern philosophies and aesthetics of winemaking, while never forgetting his roots in the cooler slopes of Douro Valley and returning to start his own project with old vines belonging to his family. Since then he set his sights higher, pushing the boundaries of his curiosity, focused in making organic viticulture and natural wines. Essentially bridging the traditions of his homeland - one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world, a land naturally preserved, with rough landscapes sculpted by a temperamental river and hard workers - with his studies and experiments, creating an irreverent and unique range of white, red, sparkling and sweet wines.
