f you look at the label, it’s not just a grim tombstone: name ‘Menhir’ is a large upright stone like a monolith, emplaced in the ground by humans, typically dating from the European middle Bronze Age. Why? Berry-Althoff wanted to express ancient limestone terroir! ~5–7 day maceration, fermented with indigenous yeasts; aged 16 months in concrete and neutral oak, then finished in steel. Shows how short maceration and old Grenache can produce vibrant, mineral red with elegance in a warm climate.
