We are located in Trentino-Alto Adige, in Vallagarina, a valley nestled between the mountains that follows the last stretch of the Adige River. It is here, on the slopes of the small village of Isera, that our vineyards (approximately two hectares) grow, where we grow various grape varieties: Marzemino, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer Aromatic, Muller Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Our vineyard philosophy is based on creating and maintaining a healthy environment for those who work there, for those around us, and for all living things (plants, animals, etc.) that inhabit it. We therefore promote activities aimed at preserving biodiversity and organic matter in the soil, such as grassing, creating dry stone walls, ecological niches, and composting. We use copper and sulfur to protect our vineyards, striving to achieve reasonable and targeted interventions. This small-scale production of artisanal mountain wines is honest, representative of the local area, and respectful of the environment and the raw materials. Its goal is to convey the authentic essence of the grape in the glass.
The fermentation of the grapes occurs spontaneously, the addition of sulphites is limited and is done during the bottling phase, without any filtration.
The Skomina winery does not have any certifications. It is still a very young company, thriving on experimentation both in the winemaking process and in the vineyard. The processes performed follow the parameters of organic certification, but the aim is to go beyond this, towards a regenerative approach. We do not use synthetic products; soil protection is limited to copper and sulfur. For soil management, we use controlled grassing in all vineyards; any nutrient supplementation is done with mature manure, compost, or winter green manure. No additives are used in the winemaking process, only sulfites during bottling. Fermentation occurs naturally with a pied de cuve. The goal is to obtain certification in the coming years, both for vineyard management and winemaking.
