Wine production is focused on Piedmont-native grapes (cortese, barbera, dolcetto, albarossa, freisa, nebbiolo) consistently with an approach based on the enhancement of far, deep-rooted local wine heritage. We manage also a special Ligury project just next to Cinque Terre area (with albarola, vermentino, bosco, pigato and ruzzese grapes). We are member of VinNatur and RAW Wine. Rocco di Carpeneto wines are made up with sun, earth and our own passion only, in strict adherence to Upper Monferrato nature's pace and “do nothing farming” or “less is more” principles. Vineyards are organically treated with very limited quantities of copper and sulphur and managed with spontaneous cover crop or sown with green manure. Grapes are rigorously handpicked in small crates. All the fermentations are spontaneous -wild yeasts only. Any additives are used. No filtration, no fining, no stabilisation, no temperature control. Rocco di Carpeneto vineyards mostly range in age between 36 and 67 years. They extend across 12 ha –mainly around the winery on a small plateau north of the tiny village of Carpeneto. Terroirs’ soils are slightly clayey-loamy -with the sandy exception of Vigna Paradiso, located 10 km far in Castelletto d’Orba. Vineyards rows are mainly N-S lined, with a perfectly balanced sun exposure. Growing system is Guyot. 5.000-5.500 plants per ha average density.
