Perched in a privileged position on the top of one of the many splendid hills surrounded by panoramic vineyards views, Tenuta San Marcello was originally a 1892 Marchese farm house which has been completely restored and suited to meet the needs of a modern relaxing vacation without losing the historic rustic charm of it’s past. In line with the principles of a sustainable tourism, to meet its energy needs, the property uses photovoltaic positioned on the roof and geothermal systems. The choice of location was not accidental, but was born from the magical encounter with the Lacrima di Morro d'Alba and the desire to produce this wine brought Pascale and Massimo to plant 4 hectares of vineyards, giving birth - three years later – to the first production of Tenuta San Marcello entirely suited to the two most important local grapes of Marches region: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Lacrima di Morro d'Alba. The focal point of the production is the low environmental impact and compliance with the principles of biodynamics without herbicides and chemical fertilizers in order to enhance the features of a plot of calcareous clay which benefits from the sea breeze resulting from not far away Adriatic coast. Harvest is done entirely by hand and the pressing is carried out within one hour in order to use only 20% of sulfites respect to the modern methods. Moreover the heat produced by fermentation is used to heat the water used in the beautiful farm. A philosophy that has brought the Tenuta ever closer to the idea of producing Natural Wines in Amphora by simply bringing back old methods already used by the Piceni more than 2000 years ago. A small production which does not exceed 20,000 bottles, and that despite its youth perfectly embodies the values at the basis of sustainable agriculture and quality to enhance the vines cornerstone of Marche viticulture.
