The initial idea was to create a small production of bottles from the old recovered vines.
The method is minimalist, with a natural approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar, to express the authenticity and uniqueness of the Terroir.
In the vineyard all the work is done manually, paying great attention to the protection and increase of biodiversity. By virtue of this, one of the first activities carried out was to eliminate the plastic material accumulated over the years by the previous management, the vines are now tied manually with broom shoots that grow spontaneously on the edges of our vineyard, and also since 2022 we have started the ancient practice of agroforestry between the rows of vines, planting fruit trees mainly opting for ancient varieties typical of our area, in order to strengthen the biodiversity of our ecosystem and make it more complex and resistant to climate change. To combat pathogens we take great care in managing the leaf wall with manual interventions and we only use sulfur and copper at very low doses as covering products.
The context in which the vineyard is located is unique as it is located in the middle of a forest in an area where the silence of wild nature dominates every form of human activity.
Mainly sandy soils with a very important calcareous matrix give great freshness to our bottles even in the hottest years. In the cellar we prefer spontaneous fermentations and no chemical additions or corrections of any kind, using only healthy grapes.
We believe that our wine is a reflection of the vintage in which it was produced and that it expresses all the uniqueness and complexity of the Contrada Fratte terroir.
At the moment we produce a single label, a pure Sangiovese produced every year in a limited edition, hand-labeled, which ages for six months on the fine lees in steel and at least one year in the bottle.
