If you’ve ever come across a bottle from La Gazzetta, you’ll know that it’s more than just wine; it is Trish Nelson’s story in liquid form. Born in Australia, raised across Asia, and once a globe-trotting journalist, Trish traded deadlines and airports for the slower rhythms of vines, orchards, and bees buzzing in the Lazio hills. After formative years working alongside Italy’s natural wine pioneers, such as Cantina Giardino and Le Coste, she rooted herself in Bolsena, a lakeside town blessed with volcanic soils and a microclimate that seems made for vines.
With her partner, Piero, Trish farms organically, weaving together a joyful patchwork of biodiversity that includes grapes, cherries, figs, pears, olives, and hives of honeybees. Nothing is forced, nothing is rushed. In the cellar, the wines are allowed to find their own voice: no additions, no interventions, just nature and patience. The results are alive with energy, featuring amber-hued macerated whites perfumed with citrus and spice, and supple reds that echo herbs, flowers, and volcanic stone. They craft authentic natural wines.
La Gazzetta is as much about community as it is about terroir. For years, Trish's wine labels have carried the names of friends and places, her cellar hums with experimentation, and each vintage feels like an invitation to taste not only a landscape but a life lived with curiosity and joy. Even after the devastating gas leak that damaged her cellar, she remained resilient and continued to pour her optimism into every new cuvée.
Today, the Gazzetta domain stands as a celebration of possibility: proof that life can be rewritten, in very different ways, vines can be nurtured into song, and wines can tell tasty stories from volcanic hillsides to your glasses. Each bottle is a reminder that authenticity and connection are the most accurate notes a wine can play.
