Le Coste - Clémentine Bouveron & Gianmarco Antonuzi
The Azienda Agricola Le Coste is a project that was born from scratch in 2004 with the purchase of land of just over three hectares, in the area of Gradoli. The goal was the practice of an environmentally friendly agriculture with the surrounding nature and landscape, the production of natural products without compromise with the logic of the market, the attempt to enhance a magnificent territory, with a remarkable agricultural potential. The territory is characterized by being at an average altitude of 450 meters above sea level, to be hilly and overlooking a lake of recent volcanic formation, to have a soil with a very varied and complex stratification, rich in minerals and basically poor in organic matter. Today we cultivate about 6.5 hectares of vineyard, half old rented vines (average 50 years), half young people planted by us (one and a half hectares in 2005 and one hectare in 2010), three hectares of olive trees, about two hectares of pasture.
Both the vineyards and the olive groves are specialized plants, but in both they live old varieties of fruit trees, shrubs of Mediterranean scrub, wild chestnut trees, ancient oaks and elms; sometimes they are mixed together in a varied landscape, far from the concept of monoculture. In all our plots we practice an agriculture that applies the principles of biodynamics, according to the rules, but with a feeling of its own and without certifications. The doses of phytosanitary treatments are often not even half of the limits imposed by the certifications. The processing of products, oil and wine above all, is done in full respect of the environment and human health. No interventions aimed at changing the qualities of the raw material and the vintage that our environment and we have contributed to produce.
