Garden Cellar - Antonio Di Gruttola & Daniela De Gruttola

Cantina Giardino was officially founded in 2003, but already five years earlier, thanks to Antonio Di Gruttola's intuition, we had begun producing wine (experimentally) without resorting to biotechnology. The idea was to create a wine through spontaneous fermentation, without filtration, fining, or the use of sulfites.

Our vision has always been clear: to enhance the historic vineyards, cultivated organically and without the use of systemic or synthetic products, to produce wines that authentically express the Irpinia terroir. Here, we work with vines that are on average 90 years old, some even pre-phylloxera, capable of producing wines with strong minerality, acidity, and depth.

Years of testing and research confirmed that this was the right path, and that the use of traditional and innovative containers—such as chestnut barrels, stoneware and terracotta amphorae, concrete, glass demijohns, and 220-liter wine globes—could further enhance the characteristics of each grape variety. The winery was founded thanks to the support of our longtime friends, who believed in the project and in the expertise of Antonio, the group's sole winemaker and technician.

Today, our wines tell a story of passion, research, and respect for nature, and are appreciated worldwide for their authenticity and ability to evolve over time.

We're also looking to the future: starting July 2025, we'll be ready to welcome enthusiasts to our new tasting room and wine laboratory, located in the historic underground caves of Ariano Irpino. This unique space preserves historic vintages and brings together the past and present of winemaking.
