A former rock musician , Sébastien Dervieux turned to winemaking in the late 1990s and cut his teeth alongside Patrick Desplats at Domaine des Griottes , one of the pioneering natural wine estates in Anjou. Following this experience, he and Agnès created their own estate, Les Vignes de Babass, in 2011.
Together, they cultivate their vines with respect for biodiversity and the terroir, using primarily manual labor and spontaneous winemaking techniques, without oenological additives. Agnès and Babass have chosen a free, artisanal, and deeply personal approach to winemaking. Their wines, mainly made from Chenin Blanc, Grolleau, and Cabernet Franc , seek above all freshness, energy, and a sincere expression of the place and the vintage.
