Le Raisin à Plume is the estate of Jacques Février
Established in 2014 on the slopes of Ancenis, between Nantes and Angers, Jacques Février chose to settle in Oudon with the desire to create a wine estate that respects nature. Originally from Brittany, he worked as a sommelier for several years in London and trained in viticulture in Alsace before creating Le Raisin à Plume.
Spanning approximately 5 hectares, the estate's vines flourish on schist and granite soils, facing south on the north bank of the Loire, right between Nantes and Angers.
Committed to his commitment, Jacques immediately converted his vineyard to the Nature et Progrès label. It is now certified organic, without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.
In the cellar, faithful to a non-interventionist oenology, he favors vinifications without inputs, with direct pressing or short macerations for the whites, and fermentation of whole grapes for the reds, all vinified in fiberglass vats.
The grape varieties, typical of the region, include:
The estate surprises every year with five to six vintages – fresh, light and lively fruit – such as the highly appreciated Le Moulin, Chupitos and Patis des Rosiers.
From one vintage to the next, Jacques can also create new blends and original vinifications, always with one objective: to create digestible and highly drinkable wines.
In 2024, a modernized winery made from bio-sourced wood and chopped straw will be built in Oudon, combining technical performance and respect for the environment, a fine culmination of the project.
To compensate for yields reduced by climatic hazards (frost), Jacques occasionally supplements his production with purchased organic grapes, which are the subject of “pop-up” vintages well separated from the estate’s range.
