Mas Des Colibris - Sébastien Galtier

After my rugby career, and approaching forty, the call of the land became too strong. Since 2013, I have been passionately cultivating 12 hectares of vines using organic (certified organic since 1999) and biodynamic methods in the commune of Gignac in the Hérault, 25 km northwest of Montpellier.

The vineyard is situated on the foothills of the Causse d'Aumelas plateau, nestled in a natural setting, on a high-quality terroir, largely classified as AOP Languedoc/Grés de Montpellier. The grape varieties include the principal Languedoc varieties: Syrah, Grenache Noir, and Carignan; as well as Merlot and Chardonnay. The oldest vines are over 70 years old. The average yield is 25 hl/ha.

The grapes are harvested by hand into crates, with sorting in the vineyard. Vinification uses indigenous yeasts and no oenological additives. I practice gentle winemaking, which allows me to produce authentic wines. We have been implementing biodynamic practices for several years, and the estate has been DEMETER certified since 2020.
