Almost all of the terraced fields, once used for vineyards, olive groves, or other crops, are now overgrown and collapsed. There was once a trade and local consumption activity, which did not withstand the industrialization of lowland viticulture.
Medium-term project to plant approximately 1 hectare on terraced land. Currently, just under 0.5 hectares of old vines are planted in Arre (30120), interplanted with Aramon Blanc, Cinsault, Alicante Bouschet, Muscat of Alexandria, Carignan, etc., and 0.3 hectares are planted in Lauroux (34700 - Carignan/Syrah/Grenache). A 0.2 hectare planting of Souvignier Gris is also underway.
Intermittent tilling of the soil between the rows, using a donkey and a small plow. Clearing and work between the rows of vines with a small tracked vehicle. Treatment with a backpack sprayer, copper, and sulfur. Hand-harvested, hand-pressed, and handled manually in a cool, old wine cellar. Small volumes.
I have a second professional activity as a naturalist.
