Lutzelhouse, Alsace/Vosges, France
natural winemaking, Georgian kvevris, wines for encounters
Living wines through the love of grapes.
In Lutzelhouse, on the border of Alsace and the Vosges, l'Ambre Blanc is a place of winemaking more than production. I don't own any vines. Each vintage is born from an encounter: with a winemaker, a grape variety, a terroir. I participate in the work in the vineyards as much as possible, to extend to the winery what the land expresses.
I age my wines without additives, without filtration, without added sulfites (or a touch if necessary). The heart of my practice is based on the kvevris , large Georgian amphorae buried in my garden, where the juices take their time, without artifice. Each wine is a fragment of memory, a listening to the living, a search for honesty.
Fermentations occur naturally. The aging process is long, sometimes turbulent, but always sincere. L'Ambre Blanc is an artisanal, intuitive project, made by hand and at ground level.
