Domaine Geschickt, living wines in Ammerschwihr (Alsace)
The domain
The Geschickt estate, located in Ammerschwihr in the Haut-Rhin region, is a family-run vineyard that has been present in Alsace for several generations. Today, Arnaud Geschickt and Aurélie Fayolle continue the work of their parents, supported by a dedicated team closely connected to the vines.
The vineyard covers approximately 12 hectares, part of which is Grand Cru, notably on the Kaefferkopf and the Wineck-Schlossberg.
Biodynamic viticulture
The estate has practiced biodynamic farming since 1998. This choice breaks with conventional methods and reflects a desire to harmonize agriculture, the environment and lifestyle.
The grapes are harvested by hand, interventions are limited, and the natural balance of the soil and plants is a priority. For several years, trees have been planted around and in the center of the plots to promote biodiversity and establish sustainable balances.
Multiple terroirs
The estate cultivates several different terroirs, notably in the Grand Cru Kaefferkopf, where both limestone and granite soils are found. This diversity also exists in the Wineck-Schlossberg, one of the smallest Grand Cru vineyards in Alsace, known for its steep slopes and south-facing granite soils.
Each plot is identified and worked separately in order to highlight the particularities of each place.
Winemaking and wine style
In the cellar, the wines are made with minimal intervention. Fermentation is natural and aging can last a long time, as the cellar allows for working with several vintages simultaneously.
Old casks, barrels and amphorae are used, which allows for different aging methods depending on the vintage.
The wines highlight the vintage, the grape variety and the terroir, with profiles often marked by maturity, texture and a great freedom of expression.
The vintages and grape varieties
The estate produces approximately 50,000 bottles per year.
Main grape varieties:
- Riesling
- Gewurztraminer
- Pinot gris
- Muscat
- Pinot blanc
- Pinot noir
Some wines highlight specific vineyard sites, such as Purberg (limestone) or Pfulben (granite). Others offer freer approaches, such as blends or experiments inspired by the landscape or neighboring crops.
Access and distribution
The estate's wines are available:

- at wine shops, in restaurants and from importers in France and abroad
