Our wines reflect a craftsman's approach. This approach guides all our practices, from sorting the grapes in the vineyard to the winemaking process. Whether for the Chablis wines produced at the estate or for the wines from our négociant business, we strive to analyze and understand each vintage, so that our cuvées are its truest expression.
Located in the heart of the Chablis vineyards, our vines are planted around a hill, at the summit of which stands the Château de Béru. Thanks to biodynamic farming, each of our plots has found its own balance, and expresses the unique characteristics of its terroir, vintage after vintage.
We play with harvest dates, pressing cycles, and barreling to reflect the spirit of the vintage. Vinification is carried out without additives, and aging is long and conducted with respect for the cycles and seasons. Since 2012, some cuvées have been bottled without sulfur.
Nestled in the heart of the estate's organic vineyards, just a few kilometers from Chablis, Château de Béru is a historic residence owned by the Athénaïs de Béru family for over 400 years. With its authentic and cozy guest rooms and self-catering cottage, Château de Béru is the ideal starting point for a cultural and culinary exploration of the Chablis region.
In 2005, Athénaïs de Béru signed her first vintage at the estate, thus following in the footsteps of her Burgundian predecessors, who since the Middle Ages have made Béru an exceptional estate.
Athénaïs wines comprise négociant wines primarily made from grape varieties and terroirs emblematic of the Yonne region. The négociant business has developed in partnership with the producers the estate supports, assisting them in their organic and even biodynamic practices. While remaining committed to an authentic expression without additives, the team allows itself considerable creative freedom in vinification and aging. All Athénaïs wines are certified organic starting with the 2020 vintage.
