Today, he cultivates 9.5 hectares of vines spread across two wine regions: the Mâconnais and the Beaujolais.
The intention is to harmonize the grape variety and its terroir to obtain wines of character. Committed to preserving the environment and the quality of his wines, Alexis de Benoist has chosen to focus his efforts on the vineyard, favoring traditional farming and cultivation methods based on observation.
In this vineyard, where the vines are between 30 and 80 years old, the harvest is done by hand. This ensures that the grapes are picked healthy and ripe, remaining intact upon arrival at the winery for whole-cluster fermentation.
The choice of traditional winemaking and aging aims to preserve the freshness of the fruit, while maintaining structure, in order to produce an expressive, balanced and delicate wine for aging.
