Valentine changed careers by taking a Professional Agricultural Baccalaureate, she is in charge of production. Stéphane is still in the fine wine trade, he takes care of the commercial side of the estate. Beaujolais was an obvious choice, Stéphane was born here, the region is magnificent and Ga-May flourishes there! It was unthinkable to look for land elsewhere... The Estate is built on discussions, sharing experiences with winegrower friends, neighbors and the support of families!
Valma is the contraction of "Val (the valley)", characteristic of Beaujolais and more precisely of the place where the estate is located, and "alma" the soul in Spanish or "to nourish/to raise" in Latin. The objective is to create wines that have soul and to raise the vines as naturally as possible.
We seek to rely on good farming practices and ensure that our plots indicate their needs to us. To do this, we study bio-indicator plants and analyze our soils so that our vines can flourish in their element. The goal is to respect nature and let our terroirs express themselves fully. Each action is guided by a request from the plants, the vines and our soils. In 2022, we will begin our conversion to organic farming for the 5.5 ha of the estate.
