Viñas Mora is a winery located in Primošten, on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. We focus on producing authentic wines from indigenous grape varieties, guided by a philosophy of terroir, tradition, and minimal intervention.
At the heart of our production is Babić, a rare native grape that perfectly expresses the identity of our region and the unique Mediterranean landscape where it grows.
Babić is an indigenous Dalmatian grape cultivated exclusively in a narrow coastal area surrounding Primošten.
Its character is shaped by an extreme Mediterranean environment of stone, intense sunlight and the Adriatic Sea. Rather than relying on power, Babić stands out through authenticity, elegance and a remarkable expression of terroir.
The grape naturally reflects the minerality of the rocky soils and the challenging growing conditions from which it originates.
Babić has been cultivated in the Primošten region for centuries.
Its story is one of resilience. Generations of growers transformed barren stone landscapes into vineyards by building dry-stone walls entirely by hand and cultivating vines under some of the harshest conditions in European viticulture.
Today, Babić represents far more than a grape variety—it embodies the cultural heritage, dedication and authenticity of Dalmatia.
The vineyards of Primošten are among the most distinctive in the world.
They are planted on steep rocky slopes where the soil consists almost entirely of limestone and stone. The vines are forced to develop deep root systems in search of water and nutrients, naturally producing extremely low yields but grapes of exceptional concentration and character.
Each vineyard reflects centuries of human effort and careful preservation of this extraordinary landscape.
Our wines are crafted with a low-intervention approach designed to preserve the authentic expression of both grape variety and origin.
Our philosophy includes:
spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts;
no aggressive technological manipulation;
minimal and carefully controlled sulfur additions;
little or no filtration or fining.
The result is a collection of wines that remain vibrant, authentic and expressive, with every vintage telling its own story.
Babić wines are characterized by balance rather than extraction.
Typical characteristics include:
structured yet elegant body;
refined tannins;
vibrant acidity;
aromas of dark berries, dried fruit and Mediterranean herbs;
subtle spice and distinctive mineral notes.
These wines are designed to be highly drinkable while maintaining strong personality and a clear sense of place.
Babić is exceptionally food-friendly.
Its combination of structure, freshness and Mediterranean character allows it to pair naturally with:
grilled meats;
umami-rich dishes;
refined contemporary cuisine;
Mediterranean gastronomy.
Its authenticity, compelling story and versatility make it particularly attractive for premium restaurants, wine bars and international markets where consumers increasingly value craftsmanship and origin.
Our Wines
Barbba
A unique field blend combining local white varieties (Maraština and Debit – 35%) with indigenous reds (Plavina, Lasin, Plavac and Babić – 65%).
After a very short maceration, spontaneous fermentation takes place without additives or control. The wine is neither filtered nor fined, resulting in a raw and honest expression of the Dalmatian coast.
Andreis
The first wine in our mono-terroir series.
Produced from a single limestone vineyard, Andreis showcases a pure expression of Babić through spontaneous fermentation, brief skin contact and ageing in both used oak barrels and neutral vessels.
Unfiltered and unfined, it reflects the individuality of one exceptional site.
Kaamen
Our interpretation of Primošten as a whole.
Sourced from vineyards scattered throughout the region—from coastal plots to high-altitude sites—Kaamen captures the collective identity of stone, sun, sea, wind and history.
Produced without intervention, it transparently expresses each vintage and the diversity of its terroirs.
Kaamen II
Produced from mid- to high-altitude vineyards (200–400 metres).
Old bush-trained vines rooted in rocky karst soils produce grapes with freshness, purity and precision.
The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, short skin contact and partial ageing in used oak and stainless steel to preserve varietal expression.
Kaamen III
Our highest expression of Babić.
The grapes originate exclusively from Primošten's historic "Grand Cru" vineyards, including both coastal sites and high-altitude parcels.
Many vines are close to 100 years old, producing intensely concentrated fruit. Minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentation and careful ageing preserve the purest expression of stone, sun and sea.
Andreis Plavac
Our contemporary interpretation of Plavac Mali.
Lighter, fresher and more elegant than traditional examples, it emphasizes vibrant acidity, softer tannins and bright red and dark fruit aromas with subtle Mediterranean herbs.
Designed for modern wine lists and by-the-glass programs, it offers exceptional drinkability while remaining true to the grape's identity.
Babić is a rare indigenous variety produced in limited quantities and deeply connected to its place of origin.
It offers wine professionals and consumers an authentic alternative to mainstream international varieties, combining history, craftsmanship and exclusivity.
Its distinctive identity makes it particularly well suited for premium restaurants, wine bars and specialized wine retailers.
