Vinos Pino Román - Ignacio Pino Román
I am a small minimal intervention wine producer, since 2018 I have been building my own interpretations with patience and humility. After my studies in oenology and experiences in different wine regions, I return to the challenge of continuing to make wines following strict production ethics.
I began a long and deep process to find those vineyards that had the potential to communicate the essence of a variety through their fruits, all in a stubborn search for healthy and self-sufficient grapes in some vineyards in the Interior Secano of Itata. I source fruit from vineyards grown by small producers in the region and make specific wines with minimal inputs. Collaboration with dedicated and passionate winegrowers is essential to create my wines. I think vineyards develop character and complexity when they have to fight to survive.
In the winery, I try to continue this idea by making minimal intervention in the wine process, in an effort to let the grapes speak for themselves. The idea is to express, through very artisanal and careful work, balanced, expressive and authentic wines. I act independently of any predetermined winemaking procedures, thus freely expressing my personality. I believe that the complex and fascinating flavors of wine are impossible to achieve with conventional winemaking methods. I use clay, wood and stainless steel vessels to make my wines, each one develops its own unique personality, depending on natural parameters too complex to be completely controlled. I try to be as gentle as possible during the winemaking process. I only introduce a small portion of sulfites into my production process before bottling.
I am focused on making local wines and I hope to express myself in them. I want to make wines that are true to me, true to the region they are from, with as little intervention as possible, and that are as enjoyable as possible for those who drink them.
