Finca Obskura - Lukas Rinner and Yael Svoboda
Finca Obskura is a natural wine project rooted in the city of Vienna, founded in 2023 by Lukas Rinner and Yael Svoboda — a couple coming from filmmaking and the creative world, driven by a deep curiosity for fermentation, terroir, and honest taste. Our name reflects our approach: something quietly radical, made with intention and without compromise.
After education at Austrias renowned Weinakademie, for our first small vintage in 2023 we began by working with grapes from trusted grower friends in Vienna and its surroundings before committing to our own land. Since 2024, we manage our own vineyards in Neustift am Walde — one of Vienna's historic wine-growing villages — where 40-year-old Grüner Veltliner vines grow on the Mitterberg slope. From the 2025 harvest onward, our production draws exclusively from our own Viennese vineyards, with only old vines of Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gemischter Satz (White).
In the vineyard, we work without synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilisers. Harvesting is done entirely by hand with careful grape selection. In the cellar, fermentation is spontaneous throughout and without commercial yeasts. We press directly where the style calls for it, or macerate on skins for our skin-contact wines. No fining, no filtration. Sulphur use is minimal across our range.
Our range covers three styles: still wines, orange/skin-contact wines, and pétillants naturels. We also produce a separate line called Okupas, using purchased grapes from trusted organic growers , which allows us to experiment with new terroirs and vinification directions.
