Three Siblings with a heart and love for wine, the dedication to nature and it‘s power and honest craftsmanship which brings pure and genuine wine into the bottle. The young power family is making independent wines and sparkling wine in the Austrian Eastern region called Weinviertel, in Loidesthal. The past years they tried to gain as much experience and knowledge as possible outside Weinviertel, outside Austria. It has always been wineries that are fully committed to organic and biodynamic farming. Coming back home, they are trying to build a place where tradition meets technology, where old meets new, both hand in hand with no compromise on nature or taste.
Today, the vineyards have grown in and around Loidesthal, Blumenthal and the area called Steinberg. Wild herbs, grasses and chamomile species grow between the vines, which help to increase biodiversity and provide living space for beneficial insects such as butterflies, ladybirds and earthworms. It is fertilized only with natural compost. Thus, we increase the biodiversity in the vineyard and strengthen the biodynamic of the vines in a natural way against diseases.
Grün Grün Grüner Veltliner, the treasure variety when you talk about Austrian wine. This variety is characteristic for the Weinviertel and shows the region, soil and its people. This said, we especially trust on the character of our individual single vineyards and their terrior. Our most special ones are Ried „In the Kreuthern“, „ Götzenthal“ and „Steinberg“, in which old vines meet deep loess layers interspersed with limestones and a high exposed southern position. The results are Grüner Veltliner with intense aroma, pure, elegant freshness and a mineralic finesse. The red pendant to or locally white is Sankt Laurent. In this variety we work with passion and effort to get spectacularly wine from our limestone dominated sides. Pure, elegant and finessed reds is our claim. In addition, there is the sparkling wine, inspired by a great passion for Champagne, the winery has been producing sparkling wine after the traditional method since years. They rest on the yeast for months, until they are riddled and disgorged by hand. The outcome is a Rosé Brut with fruity berry flavor and a fine creamy perlage and an elegant Blanc de Blancs that is a great food companion with its mineral, firm structure. All good things are three. Another focus of our winery is the creating wines that show our region. With our „IN NATURA“ series (which means “in real shape”) we want to show the natural beauty of our main varieties and the purity of the soils. We support this with using special casks as old wooden barrels, concrete eggs and amphorea.
The Weinviertel is the largest wine-growing region in Austria and is located between Vienna and the border of the Czech Republic. The region is influenced by the rivers Danube and March. Noticeable are the last influences of the Pannonian climate, which is characterized by hot, dry summers and dry, cold winters. This affects our grapes in a unique way: fully ripe berries combined with this spicy and refreshing acidity result in so called „Cool Climate“ wines.
In our vineyards, you can find a lot of different soil types, that’s why the area “Weinviertel” is very exciting. The biggest part takes over “Loess” and “Loam”. It is a clastic, predominantly silt- size sediment that is formed by the accumulation of wind- blow dust. This type of soil is predestinated for our grapes. Moreover, you can discover chalky-, sand and flysch soil types. To protect our valuable soil for the next generations we decided to farm our vineyards in the biodynamic way. For us it is a requirement to work this way as we want strong and healthy vines and a functional ecosystem in our vineyards. Trees, cover crops, bees and other insects are helping us to get a vital and balanced soil and the vines are able to help themselves in difficult situation during the year
There is not much to say as we try to avoid any unnecessary invention in the winemaking process. We believe in the natural flavor and taste of our handpicked grapes. In our opinion, less intervention in natural processes gives rise to characterful individual wines that are not trimmed to “one” taste.
