Penhó Wines are garage wines produced from grapes grown at Quinta de Penhó, located in the Vinho Verde region in the North of Portugal.
At the top of a mountain, looking down at a breathtaking valley, the vineyards produce the grapes that become our wine.
The vines are worked with respect for the environment, using indigenous microorganisms, fermented plant inputs, and manual work to control the weeds. Year-round the vineyards are covered with vegetation, where you can find living soils, and wild animals, from ladybugs to eagles, foxes and rabbits, snakes and bats.
The wine is produced in our old winery, property of the family and built in the XVIII century, in stone open vats and with minimal mechanization, relying on gravity to move wines and in the meter thick granite walls to guarantee a steady temperature year round. This results in unique natural wines where the grapes are allowed to shine.
