La Maison Romane was born in 2005, the year I settled down. First in Vosne-Romanée, in a winegrower's house that gave its name to my wine production, before moving to Nuits-Saint-Georges. At the start, I bought my first grapes and at the same time set up a small horse-drawn ploughing business. From the start, I vinified all my vintages with as little intervention and sulfur as possible, to respect the fruit and the terroir, and always entirely from the whole harvest.
The grapes are grown organically, biodynamically, or using soil-friendly viticultural approaches, and sourced from talented winemakers. Harvesting is done by hand, with each bunch carefully selected in the vineyard and on the sorting table.
In the winery, there is little intervention, with punching down only at the final stage. The wines are aged for 12 months in old oak barrels. From the outset, the wines have not been fined or filtered.
Since the 2020 vintage, in addition to wine, we have been producing vintage winemaker beers called "Mousses Sauvages" which are aged for several months (between 8 and 12 months) in tuns. Everything starts with the fermentation of grapes (Aligoté, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gamay) or other fruits (apples, mirabelle plums, etc.).
We also produce a little cider. With this production, I am returning to my grandfather's family terroirs.
We also raise black pigs and Corsican cows on the heights of Vosne-Romanée, with the aim of producing exceptional meat as well as naturally cured meats.
If you're lucky, there might be some cured meat to taste during your visit.
Our small ecosystem will welcome a bakery with our sourdough breads from June 2025.
And every year, for the nice weather, our courtyard is transformed into a seasonal restaurant with a large part of our products on the plates and in the glasses.
