Welcome to Domaine La Taupe. We are located on 8.5 Hectares the former bed of the Cher, between Thésée and Monthou, in Loire-et-Cher. We are dedicated to creating natural wines that reflect the terroir and subtle notes of the Loire Valley. Bertjan Mol is our head winemaker, he works with his family and in collaboration with natural wine lovers to offer you the best of Loire wines. About Bertjan Mol: Bertjan was born and raised in the Netherlands. It was in 1999, during a trip to France, that he tasted natural wine for the first time. The first sip was a revelation and so he decided to open Bruutwijn, one of the first natural wine import companies in the Netherlands. Bertjan is still an importer of natural wines in the Netherlands. A few years later, Bertjan decided to devote himself entirely to this passion. He then bought a vineyard plot from Bruno Allion, already known for his biodynamic wines in the Loire Valley. These were the beginnings of Domaine la Taupe. In love with his work, Bertjan also likes to be able to make his wines and his know-how better known with people from all over the world. About Nicole Messer: Psychologist and very interested in natural development. Bertjan's wife also helps manage the estate and works on the plots throughout the year. She creates biodynamic preparations and lambs in order to maintain a great biodiversity, a natural bulwark against disease and natural strength. Domaine la Taupe produces natural wines. This means for us that they do not contain sulphites, nor additives, they are not filtered / clarified. Their fermentation is spontaneous and due to indigenous yeasts. This approach gives rise to a living wine, a reflection of its terroir. The estate has been certified organic (Ecocert) since 1997 and the estate has been certified organic dynamic since 2007 (Demeter). The wines are also certified organic and biodynamic.
