Domaine de la Mongestine is located in the Var in the town of Artigues in in the middle of "Provence Verte" facing the Verdon. The estate has 120 ha of a single piece with 35 ha of vines planted. The property rises to an altitude of 450m (the highest in the appellation), exposed North, which gives it a more northern than southern climate. The nature of the soils is clay-limestone and the grape varieties planted there are very varied through the typically southern grape varieties (Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Vermentino, Grenache blanc, Sauvignon blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon) by more northern grape varieties (Roussanne, Pinot noir). The estate was bought in February 2017 by Harry & Céline Gozlan. Wholesale investments in the cellar and in the vineyard have enabled us to redefine a line of direction: Natural vinification, expansion of organic work in the vineyard towards biodynamic. The entire estate has been Ecocert certified for more than 10 years and grassed totally for 3 years. Irrigation is prohibited. Copper doses are reduced minimum (2.5 Kg / ha). The management of the vineyard is carried out in such a way that in Biodynamics in future years. Currently a 5 ha plot is in test. We seek to develop as much as possible the biodiversity within the domain by planting meadows and honey trees that provide a pantry for our bees. Our donkeys come to maintain our meadows without mechanical work. Harvests are mechanical or manual depending on our cuvées. Mechanically for our rosés (in order to collect at “just” maturity), manually for our reds and whites which leave for maceration. The vinifications are natural without adding sulfur, yeasts and other products oenological. Each plot and each grape variety are vinified separately then worked in assembly according to the cuvées. Working without sulfur, MLF is always carried out on our wines. We use a multitude of containers (intox tank, concrete tank, concrete egg, old 225L barrel, sandstone amphora) in order to best express each of our cuvées. The wines are never filtered (apart from our rosé) and if they are not without sulfur added, they are at most 30mg / L total SO2. All our wines are worked in the cellar according to the lunar calendar in fruit days.
