Luisa & Guido Corino

Luisa and Guido Corino today represent the sixth generation of winemakers in Costigliole d'Asti. From generation to generation in the company, there have been eclectic personalities, also engaged in other activities, but who have been able to maintain and pass on the wise and respectful rules of peasant craftsmanship both in the management and cultivation of the vineyards and in the production of wines. Case Corini today remains an authentic example of respect for the environmental and historical peculiarities of the territory.

Both also involved in other professions, they dedicate particular care to the family business and respect for those who worked before them, putting into practice the teachings of their father Lorenzo, agronomist and wine researcher, who developed a cultivation method called Corino method.

The company is made up of 15 hectares of which 7 are under vineyards and is spread between the municipalities of Costigliole d'Asti, Isola d'Asti, Mongardino and Santo Stefano Belbo.

The land not intended for wine production is partly left fallow as wooded areas and partly as irrigated or arable land. Over the years, the company has equipped itself with a carbon footprint control and verification system whose absorption-emissions balance tells us that the plant ecosystems present on the company absorb 5 times the emissions for the production and packaging of wines.

The vineyards are located in three different geographical areas, the largest near the company headquarters in the municipality of Costigliole d'Asti, the one with the most important historical value in the municipality of Mongardino and finally in the municipality of Santo Stefano Belbo, a "heroic" vineyard recently acquired.

All the vineyards are between 60 and 90 years old, Barbera is grown as the main variety followed by Nebbiolo, Moscato d'Asti and several old vines cultivated in ancient times. The management of the vineyards is done manually with the occasional help of light equipment, a choice which today allows the plants to live on soil characterized by a large layer of vegetal matter and seasonal spontaneous flora. Great attention is paid to the harvest, in the cellar spontaneous fermentations take place inside wooden barrels and no type of additive is added, even during the subsequent breeding of the wines which can last from two to four years.

The company has acquired organic certification for the cultivation and production of grapes, the QCertificazioni certification body
