After making my first wine in 2015 as a result of my work at ღVino Underground, I began Freya's Marani in 2016, purchasing my own vineyard in southern Imereti, in the village of Persati, and making wine in kvevri and dame jeanne. While I learned much from the winemakers at Vino Underground, visiting them occasionally on my days off, my main teacher has been the vineyard itself. The wines are from tsolikouri, krakhuna, and aladasturi grape varieties. Since 2019 I have been purchasing grapes from three other organically farmed vineyards, and since 2022 I have stopped using copper and sulfur in my vineyards, and use only herbal treatments, if any. The vineyards are not tilled, and grass is cut maximum twice during the growing season. Wines contain only grapes, no sulfur or filtration is used at any point in the winemaking process, and all wines are bottled in recycled bottles. Tastings by reservation only.
