Casa Brecceto was born in 2017 when a group of friends took over a small estate in the wonderful Irpina countryside.
Behind them there is a twenty-year long experience in the world of artisanal and natural wines that began in 2001 as Arajani Enoprogetto, the dream of Oto Tortorella, Igor Grassi and Fortunato Sebastiano.
We are located in the Southern Apennines, in Ariano Irpino. A borderland for traditions, language and agriculture, it has always been a place of passage and contamination between peoples.
The initial project involved the production of only one wine, produced in very limited quantities, the result of the strict selection of the grapes and long refinements in the cellar: Pitatza, a corsaro wine, pure Aglianico from grapes grown on their own.
Over the years, the number of labels produced has increased and in 2022 there will be 8 wines produced, based on Aglianico, Fiano, Coda di Volpe, Greco and Piedirosso.
The fermentation of the grapes has always been spontaneous and minimal amounts of sulphites are used, only at bottling. The work is mainly manual, without any particular technology in the cellar, the aging of the wines takes place in amphora, steel, wood, depending on the year and the grape variety.
Viticulture is in the mountains with vineyards often located above 650 meters above sea level, so temperatures that are always cool in summer and cold in winter, are harvested until November, often after a snowfall. The soils have multicolored clays, sands rich in marine deposits, a good organic substance and an abundance of skeleton in some of them.
The company does organic farming (copper, sulfur, clays, plant extracts) and distributes biodynamic preparations (500K and 501) on about 2.5 hectares of vineyards and olive groves and collaborates with other winemakers who give it part of the grapes (20%) .
At Casa Brecceto, together with the traditional vines, a little Irpinia is bottled, in the healthiest, most pleasant and joyful way possible and at the same time we try to create value, for everyone.
