We are Carl-Friedrich or simply Carl, his father Rolf (organ builder), Laura (midwife and friend of Carl) and our family and friends, without whose help there would be no wine at all - at this point a thousand thanks to everyone who has committed their time, physical strength and joy to building up our winery! With the winery founded in 2017, we are still one of the younger wineries in the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region, but we really want to produce good and authentic wine without any use of fining agents. We have been consistently practicing organic farming in Thuringia/Saxony-Anhalt since the beginning and have been certified since 2020.

<p class="Standard"><span lang="EN-US">The Carl-Friedrich L. Walther winery was founded in 2017 by Carl-Friedrich Walther, who was 27 years old at the time. We started with a small plot of &lsquo;Silvaner&rsquo;, which covers just under 3,000 m&sup2; and is located in the single location &lsquo;Kaatschener Dachsberg&rsquo;. Our winery is one of the smallest wineries in one of the smallest wine-growing regions in Germany: Saale-Unstrut. We now cultivate 0.7 hectares ('Silvaner', 'Riesling', 'Wei&szlig;burgunder' ('Pinot Blanc') and 'Sp&auml;tburgunder' ('Pinot Noir')). We have been cultivating our vines organically since the beginning and have been officially certified organic since 2020. The harvest, as well as most of the work in the vineyard, is done by hand, but we are very happy that we have been able to rely on a tractor for crop protection and soil cultivation since 2022. Our wine cellar is located in the &lsquo;Schloss Klosterh&auml;seler&rsquo; in the municipality of &lsquo;An der Poststra&szlig;e&rsquo;. Our old basket press, which stands outside in the air and receives a fresh coat of paint every year, allows us to press the best grape must every year, which develop into impetuous wines and allow their own authentic character to emerge. A lot of time and a lot of patience play the most important role for us in vinification. By maturing the wines on the yeast for a long time in stainless steel tanks or one of our 6 barriques, we can forego higher amounts of sulfur and bottle our wines unfiltered and unfined.</span></p>
