One day we wanted to give meaning to our life: To create a wine so good that by drinking it we feel radiant with friendship and kindness. We would taste a terroir there. You would feel above all the work of Nature. Before arriving on the estate in 2017, Sylvain was operations manager in the Médoc and Aude wine merchant in Libourne. Our paths crossed on Argentinian wine lands at the foot of the Andes Cordillera. Originally from the Bordeaux region and Corrèze, we went to discover wines from elsewhere. The Domaine de l'Astré is the fruit of our meeting and our shared passion. We cultivate grapes on the border between the Gironde and the Dordogne in the Périgord Pourpre. Our vines flourish on a limestone cliff in a hilly landscape 80 meters above sea level above the Dordogne valley, just protected by a forest. The vineyard covers 8 hectares in one piece on a clay-loam soil: 1.70 ha of Semillon + 6.2 ha of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon which have an average age of 35 years. The density is 5000 feet hectares. The estate has been in organic farming since 2012 and we have chosen to accentuate this orientation by implementing a biodynamic approach. All our wines are vinified as naturally as possible in indigenous yeasts with very little manipulation on the harvest, and aged in old used barrels.

Avant d'arriver sur le domaine en 2017, Sylvain était responsable d'exploitation dans le Médoc et Aude caviste à Libourne. Nos chemins se sont croisés sur les terres viticoles argentines au pied de la Cordillère des Andes. Originaire de la région bordelaise et de la Corrèze, nous étions partis à la découverte des vins d'ailleurs. Le domaine de l'Astré est le fruit de notre rencontre et de notre passion partagée.

Nous cultivons le raisin à la frontière entre la Gironde et la Dordogne dans le Périgord Pourpre. Nos vignes s'épanouissent sur une falaise calcaire dans un paysage vallonné à 80 mètres d'altitude au-dessus de la vallée de la Dordogne, tout juste protégées par une forêt.

Le vignoble compte 8 hectares d'un seul tenant sur un terroir argilo-limoneux : 1,70 ha de Sémillon + 6,2 ha de Merlot, Cabernet Franc et Cabernet Sauvignon qui ont une moyenne d'âge de 35 ans. La densité est de 5000 pieds hectares.

Le domaine est en agriculture biologique depuis 2012 et nous avons choisi d'accentuer cette orientation en mettant en place une démarche biodynamique.

Tous nos vins sont vinifiés le plus naturellement possible en levures indigènes avec très peu de manipulations sur la vendange, et élevés dans de vieilles barriques usagées.
