Welcome to MONTEPASCOLO, a land of natural wines with the presumption of interpreting and remembering a territory. We are Andrea and Paola we decided to create this company by listening to our passion for the land and the desire of farmers and winemakers to “Go Back to the Origins” for generations. The friendship with winemakers linked by a common intent to produce real wines has allowed us to get to know the world of natural wine which immediately proved interesting as it respects those natural balances that surround us and which are often ignored. Our Montepascolo is located in the hilly area of Val D’Arda and precisely in the municipality of Castell’Arquato, a splendid medieval village in the Piacenziano Nature Reserve at 220 meters above sea level. The company is spread over an area of 13 hectares, 5 of which are planted with vineyards. The conformation of the clayey soil and the exposure of our vineyards give us warm, tannic, balanced wines with complex aromas. The vines present are mostly indigenous such as Bonarda, Barbera, Ortrugo, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Ancellotta. From the beginning we believed in the choice of an "organic" Montepascolo and from 2022 we have been tackling the biodynamic path. This choice stems from the awareness that a good wine is the result of strict respect for the environment from which it derives, which is why the work in the vineyard is carried out mainly by hand and without the use of chemicals. Our philosophy can be summed up as "going back to basics". This allows us to work in the cellar as in the vineyard, with that simplicity that our fathers and grandparents have passed on to us. We use concrete tanks for spontaneous fermentations that take place thanks to indigenous yeasts, while for aging oak barrels that allow the wine to enhance the characteristics of our terroir.
