In the vibrant world of natural winemaking, Soma Vines emerged in 2018 when Daisy began importing wines from France, Italy, and Hungary. The true genesis of their winemaking journey, however, unfolded in 2020 with their first wine, 'Crossing Borders.'

Antoine, hailing from Marseille, harbored a long-standing dream of immersing himself in the wine industry. After a decade with wineries in Germany and France, he embarked on crafting wines that embraced the essence of his beliefs. Daisy, originally from Norwich, England, found her passion for wine while working in hospitality. Unfulfilled by simply serving wines, she delved into wine education and eventually co-founded Soma Vines in Berlin.

The duo transitioned from working in the conventional wine scene to natural winemaking, drawn by a desire to create without the encumbrance of chemicals and filtration.

Soma Vines employs organic practices in the vineyard, and with the grapes they source. Their winemaking embraces minimal intervention, techniques like a pied de cuve kickstart their process, and gravity is favored over pumps, they try to move the wine only twice in the process, from press to barrel and from barrel to bottle.

In Germany's evolving natural wine scene, Soma Vines is making waves. The movement is gaining momentum, with winemakers transitioning from conventional to natural practices and a growing demand for natural wines among German consumers, particularly in Berlin. Soma Vines is one to watch, and definitely to taste!
