Piccola Cantina Rossi - Gianpiero Rossi
In the Umbrian countryside, on the hill just below the medieval village of Castello delle forme, in the Municipality of Marsciano (Perugia), on the ridge overlooking the Tiber Valley, Gianpiero Rossi, assisted by his wife Paola and his daughters Eleonora and Federica, has the reins of the Little Rossi Cellar.
The 5-hectare natural (VinNatur Associated) organic winery (ICEA); four of which are vineyards and one is an olive grove, mainly produces IGT "Umbria" wines in bottles and in bag in box and extra virgin olive oil.
In the vineyard, the goal is to breed healthy plants predisposed to a high resistance to adversity, therefore we pay particular attention to the biological fertility of the soil, the protection of biodiversity and the balance of the vineyard ecosystem, where we practice:
the indigenous grassing in the corridors between the rows;
the oxygenation and autumn tillage of the soil;
grass management with mowing;
use of sulfur-based products to combat powdery mildew use of copper-based products to combat downy mildew;
manual harvest.
The works are carried out with a tractor.
In the cellar the grapes exclusively of own production. they are pressed with a vertical manual wooden press, the fermentations take place spontaneously with the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts and the temperatures are not controlled. In winemaking the only additive/ingredient allowed is sulfur dioxide and our wines are not filtered.
The bottled wine has a quantity of total sulfur dioxide not exceeding 50 mg/litre for white wines, and not exceeding 30 mg/litre for red and rosé wines and we indicate the quantity of sulfur dioxide on the label<
