Since childhood, Ugo has spent every summer and vacation with his maternal grandmother in Roccalbegna, a small town in the province of Grosseto where grape growing has always been renowned. His affection and understanding of the untapped potential of this area, combined with the memory of Vittorio's words, "...it would make a great wine...", convinced him to embark on his own independent professional journey here.
After graduating in Viticulture and Oenology from the Faculty of Agriculture in Florence, with a thesis on the Roccalbegna area, he decided to purchase his first plots of land and plant the white vineyard at "Bandita" and the red vineyard at "Vignali," areas historically suited to their respective grape varieties, favoring native Tuscan varieties while respecting the Roccalbegna tradition. His love for the land led him to embrace his entirely "natural" philosophy from the very beginning, avoiding interventionism or invasive winemaking practices. He has always believed that producing an excellent product requires responsible management of the land, as well as winemaking and aging. "You have to work hard to ruin a good wine made from healthy grapes..." He is deeply convinced that the grapes thus obtained already possess all the essential characteristics needed to create a great product. Hence the choice of organic farming in the vineyards, the use of native yeasts, or spontaneous fermentations, and no added sulfites; no fining or oenological additives; no sulfur dioxide or other additives added during bottling. The use of lightweight bottles to reduce the environmental impact of glass consumption, and screw caps to eliminate the need for cork, while simultaneously guaranteeing a flawless product for the final consumer.
