These are the secrets of Tenuta La Novella, a biodynamic high-altitude winery that has been producing top-quality wines since 1998.
Situated in the hills separating Chianti Classico from the Valdarno, a few kilometers south of Florence, Tenuta La Novella covers almost 200 hectares, including 13.5 hectares of vineyards and 20 hectares of olive groves, surrounded and supported by extensive forests rich in biodiversity.
These characteristics, combined with the altitude between 4 and 600 metres above sea level, allow us to bring our creations to life with as little intervention as possible: our wines are born from what the vines want to tell us, not from what we want to impose on them.
Our galestro and sandstone soils enhance the most vibrant expression of Sangiovese, alongside a smaller proportion of Syrah and Viognier with surprising character.
The harvests are carried out entirely by hand, after multiple selections aimed at gathering only the grapes that reach our quality standards.
In the cellar, the grapes undergo further selection to ensure impeccable health, allowing us to guide the transformation into wine without altering its authentic expression. Batches with common characteristics are vinified and aged separately, then blended only before bottling.
Spontaneous fermentations, the absence of fining and oenological artifices, combined with the expert use of materials that do not alter the aromatic palette of the wines (steel, cement, stoneware, and large, very lightly toasted barrels) are the basis for the creation of a varied and balanced range of fine, elegant, and characterful wines.
