We are in Northern Sardinia, between the historic regions of Gallura and Anglona. The climate is influenced by winds from the nearby mountains of upper Gallura and Corsica, the sea, and Lake Coghinas. The soils are predominantly calcareous and medium-textured, with marl. In approximately 5 hectares of vineyards, we grow native varieties, primarily Vermentino, Cannonau, Muristellu, and Moscato. All field work is done manually; for heavier work (tilling and spraying), we use a tractor. Although we are not certified, we follow organic farming techniques, respecting nature's rhythms. For now, we have chosen not to have any because we believe many of the certification bodies offer no guarantees, and many organic wines have cellaring procedures very similar to conventional wines. The land is worked and fertilized (certified pelleted fertilizers, certified cattle manure) every other year, and we use green manure and no-till techniques. Foliar treatments are performed annually with self-produced plant macerates. We only use sulfur and/or copper as pesticides (approximately 5 treatments/year, 0.8 kg/ha of copper). In the cellar, fermentations are conducted using the pied de cuve technique (indigenous yeasts). Maceration and battonage in barrels for some lines are not included. Coarse filtration before bottling. Sulfites are kept below 50 mg/l.
