Cà del Prete - Luca Ferrero

In 1986, Giorgio Ferrero became the owner of the family-run winery that had been producing wine in Pino d'Asti for four generations. He implemented organic farming throughout his production and began marketing his products under the Ca' del Prete brand (the name derives from the farmhouse where the winery is located, which was once connected to the old rectory above). In 2014, after gaining experience at the company, Luca Ferrero (Giorgio's grandson) became the owner.

Luca has implemented new methodologies from the vineyard to the cellar. Many of his choices are born from ongoing research, a willingness to challenge himself, and constant exchange with more experienced colleagues. He defines his wines as "artisanal, made from organically grown grapes." Artisanal because they are produced without the use (or minimal) of technology or chemical additives, with small additions of preservatives only at bottling. The vineyard area is approximately 4 hectares, planted primarily to Freisa, with plots of Malvasia (an ancient Schierano grape) and Barbera. Greenery reigns supreme in the vineyards: grassing prevents runoff and soil erosion and is very beneficial for maintaining lower temperatures in the summer, ensuring the presence of wild herbs and a vibrant fauna.
